OUR JOURNEY

As founders, we cut our teeth over the last 20 years as operational management consultants at leading US and European consulting firms, both in their consulting and transaction advisory teams. We advised senior management teams buy-side and sell-side in listed corporations and PE portfolio companies pre-deal and post-deal around complex, high value mergers and carve-outs, and subsequent transaction integration.

In our lead operational advisory roles, we worked hand in glove with many diverse leadership teams through “making the case” for the transaction internally and with investors, through planning, taking control and executing on the deal commitments. And then often supporting them in transitioning into new and demanding roles, with significant internal and external scrutiny and many competing priorities connected with the deal and running a business day to day. As they settled into role, we often worked with them as they designed and led major change programs in Europe, US and APAC, on occasions working alongside other consulting firms.

Overtime we focused on transaction and non-transaction related change, helping leaders and their teams to be even more successful. We built our capability in pragmatic, impactful and benefits-focused change management consulting, tied to leveraging people opportunity and reducing execution risk. This informs our leadership coaching and vice versa, ongoing.

90 DAY PLAN

0 Days

We learnt about the value of “first 90 days” in business terms as a core feature of both merger and carve-out planning. This activity typically commences pre-Day 1, and uses whatever data are available, through due diligence and other, plus management and consultant insights and experience to plan and prepare. The focus here is typically on transferring the business and its respective assets to a new owner commencing “Day 1”, taking control, taking stock, “keeping the wheels on” aka maintaining the business as a going concern, protecting existing value, understanding, assuming and managing liabilities (or pushing back as appropriate where “new”), creating stability, delivering on immediate expectations and building early stakeholder “comfort”, as a base for subsequent incremental value creation in line with the deal rationale. We refined this approach over many major transactions and many great clients around the world, and it continues to shape the thinking at the core of what we do today as we work with leaders and their teams, with a focus on outcomes over process, personal and company success.

COACHES

By virtue of the deep relationships we developed working with these leadership teams across all parties, and the inevitable repositioning following a transaction, we often found ourselves in the role of “coaches” supporting them personally and as a team through their transition. Their roles spanned C-suite, managing directors, functional leaders, regional and country general managers, business partners at HQ and country affiliate level, and often their management teams in Europe, US, APAC specifically China, Singapore and Indonesia. Our insights from working across different roles and cultures (also different companies and sectors) inform the work we do today

Roll forward several years. On top of our consulting credentials, we now work with leaders and their teams in Europe, US and APAC on an independent basis and as accredited executive coaches and preferred suppliers of change management to major companies in pharmaceutical, consumer and financial services. Our coaching mandates include, for example: individual and small group performance coaching, team and systemic performance coaching, life coaching, resilience, wellbeing, major events, special situations.
